Alissa's Flowers
Rose
1994: Alissa starts planting roses at our house in Sun Valley.
She learns that they eat browned & crumbled banana peels, & prefer shelter.
2000: We move from suburban Buffalo Ridge to rural
Poverty Flats, on the grassland plateau. Got Wind? Game on, Flats.
2004: Alissa has a vision: rank-upon-rank of rose bushes
marching forth from all over the gardens. She has rosey success
out here, albeit not the army of petals she wanted. Quality over quantity.
2013: Another Victory. Battered by weather, not very pretty,
but smelling like roses, this year's crop is fantastic and prodigious.
Yawn at yon blather; but look at some Rosae.
